FAQs

Who are you guys?
H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. was formed by a group of costumers who are dedicated to creating quality costumes. We all have “normal” day jobs, but we wanted some way to give back to our community. We’re particularly dedicated to helping charities as well as educational events. To learn more about us, check out our About Us page or our Characters page.

What kind of events do you do?
We at H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. are here to support our community the best we can! We prefer to do events that support charities and educational events. However, if your business needs us to promote a good cause, we’re willing to help!

Do you do birthday parties?
Unfortunately, we do not attend birthday parties. The members of H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. like portraying our characters, but we are not entertainers. However, if you choose to make your birthday party a public charity fundraiser, we are willing to attend and help you bring attention to it. Some of our members will, however, attend parties on a private basis, not officially as part of H.E.R.O.I.C. If you want to hire our members privately, contact us and we will connect you with them.

I want you to come to my event in two days! Can you attend? How much notice do you need?
While we will do our best to accomodate short notice requests, we prefer to have at least a couple week’s advance notice. All of us have regular jobs, responsibilities, and families, and we’ll need time to arrange for these things to be taken care of in order to attend your event.

Can you do this at any time of the day, during any day of the week?
All of us have regular jobs, responsibilities, and families, and we’ll need time to arrange for these things to be taken care of in order to attend your event. Please bear this in mind while requesting our time. We tend to be able to do Saturdays without too much difficulty, but even then we like as much advance notice as we can get! Depending on how much you need us and the type of event you are requesting us for, we may be able to accomodate your request.

How far will you travel?
It depends on the type, size, and time of the event requested. Depending on the cause, we may be willing to come out to help you! Contact us to discuss the details of what you need.

Can we hire you or pay for your time?
H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do take donations, if you would like (see below). Also, some of our members will do certain events on a private basis, not officially as part of H.E.R.O.I.C. If you want to hire our members privately, contact us and we will connect you with them.

Can we make a donation?
Sure! Anything helps.

Can I have specific characters show up to my event?
We will do the best we can to send any specific characters to your events. However, we need some advance notice, and even then we cannot guarantee that specific characters are available for the dates requested. All of us have regular jobs, responsibilities, and families, and we’ll need time to arrange for these things to be taken care of in order to attend your event.

What characters do you have?
Our primary focus is on comic book characters, video game characters, and princesses. We also have characters from certain movies, anime, and some general science fiction/fantasy/adventure stories. Although we may be able to provide characters from Star Trek, Star Wars, and Steampunk, that is not our primary focus.

Are you licensed by DC, Marvel, Disney, etc.?
The members of H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. recognize they hold no claim over any copyrighted costumes and characters they portray. The members of H.E.R.O.I.C. also acknowledge and accept that while in costume, they represent the respective intellectual property and will do so courteously, professionally and responsibly at all times.

Do you have a business license?
We are in the process of getting H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. registered on a county, state, and federal level as an official non-profit organization. This process takes time, but we will hopefully have it completed soon!

Have all your members completed a background check?
This is a requirement that we hope to include very soon for all our members. We believe it is very important for people to feel secure around our characters, especially considering that we work with children on a regular basis. Once we are officially licensed as a non-profit organization, we will conduct background checks on all our members. In the meantime, rest assured that each person has agreed allow the check and has also agreed to disclose any criminal history as part of membership in H.E.R.O.I.C.

Are you bonded or insured?
This is something that comes along with being officially registered as a non-profit organization. We are in the process of making sure such things are in place so that you can have the greatest confidence in asking H.E.R.O.I.C., Inc. to attend your events. Please be patient with us while we work through the huge stack of paperwork and time involved!

How can I join H.E.R.O.I.C.?
We only take internal references for new members! So the first step in joining is getting to know us. Come to events and introduce yourself to members. Also, you may want to check our Charter and Bylaws to see how we operate.

I don’t have a costume. Can I still join?
Sure! We have what we call a “handler” position in the group that allows people to help out at various events. Please understand, however, that only “Heroes,” members who have approved costume(s), are allowed to vote in council decisions. Check out our Charter and Bylaws for more information on how we operate as a group.

Aren’t you guys just a club?
While we are a club of costumers who enjoy each other’s company very much, our primary focus is on supporting our community and especially charity. This is why we are working toward non-profit status on a state and federal level, as well as working toward requiring background checks on every member. We want our community to be able to trust us, and we want to be able to provide a quality experience for each event we attend.

Can I still attend an event in costume if I am not part of H.E.R.O.I.C.?
Yes. However, we ask that you be on your very best behavior and remember to keep your conversation, language, and appearance kid-friendly. We will be working closely with event officials to be sure you follow all rules required. If you cause any problems at the event, you will be asked to leave.
